The Office of Undergraduate Research & Scholarship (OURS) exists to cultivate student involvement in high quality research and creative endeavors through faculty-mentored scholarship. OURS seeks to assist students by:

• Identifying and securing research opportunities at 企鹅体育直播 (e.g. Work Study Research Program - WRAP, McNair, integrated Mathematics and Science Scholars - iMASS, Ledford), in our community, and with national partners.
• Providing access to regional and national academic conferences to present their findings.
• Developing scholarly community among students and mentors.
• Building disciplinary and interdisciplinary research skills within a liberal arts curriculum (e.g. Responsible Conduct of Research training, Institutional Review Board support).

The Council on Undergraduate Research defines 鈥渦ndergraduate research鈥� as 鈥渁n inquiry or investigation conducted by an undergraduate student that makes an original intellectual or creative contribution to the discipline.鈥� At 企鹅体育直播, undergraduate research takes place in course-embedded research classes and in faculty-mentored, one-on-one, or in small lab models. Faculty are supported in their mentoring through the Center for Teaching Excellence, training workshops, and through institutional membership in the听.
